Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Exactly one year ago, I was photographing a lovely pregnant lady and her dashing husband...outside...on the grass...Not so this year!! Hard to believe that was the weather then. And, now...we've had crazy cold temps this January! I'm talking single digits with a minus preceding them! Yowza! Amazing how your car doesn't want to run, and your nose just does on those yucky mornings...the kind of days where you want to stay bundled in bed and pray the rest of the world will continue to move on without you!
After several weeks of this, we finally got warmed up enough to melt that darn ice and *almost* see our cracking driveway once again. Then, BAM! Inches and inches..and INCHES of famous Utah powder dumped on our lovely valley. I figured, nothing to do but complain about it...and maybe take some fun photos of two really cute girls frolicking to their little hearts delight in it!
My fave photo--such sheer glee!

Yeah, it's just that deep!

And they're off!

Don't Stop The Party

Since I think New Year's Eve is such a lame holiday, I decided to try and perk it up this year by buying some fun party favors for us to don for our family celebration. Shayne and I decided to do a few quick Christmas returns in SLC and hit Shayne's favorite new Mexican restaurant for dinner, Red Iguana. He LOVES the chicken mole and I am a huge fan of the flautas!
Upon arriving home, we turned on a movie with the kids to pass the time until "the ball drop". Dane was asleep within minutes, but the other three held strong. At ten minutes to twelve, I cracked out the funky 2012 glasses and party hats/headbands, woke up Dane (who remained in a confused stupor), popped the bubbly (Martinelli's, of course!) and watched dear Dick Clark (struggling mightily these days as a result of age and a stroke) and Ryan Seacrest countdown the minutes to 2012! We all kissed, toasted, drank...and tromped up the stairs to bed! Here's to a fabulous new year!
