For years, Dane has been begging us to buy him a guitar. He has spent hours playing Rock Band on the Wii game system with his friends belting out songs with his little smokey voice and dreaming of doing it on a real guitar someday. So for his 10th birthday, he told us the only thing he wanted was a guitar. Shayne and I spent a Saturday afternoon at a guitar store in Salt Lake City picking out just the perfect guitar (and the tons of accessories needed to play an electric guitar--sheesh!) for our birthday boy. We had fun teasing him by giving him just the songbook and the amplifier cord as his only gifts when his party began, telling him it was all we could afford right now and that he would have to save for the guitar. His cute little face was trying so hard to be excited but you could tell we was crestfallen inside. We finally brought out the guitar and he was thrilled! (I know, mean parent tricks!) We finished off the night with a dinner at Shoots (his favorite Chinese restaurant) with Grammy Su and Grandpa Bar, and he spent the next several days glued to his new guitar.

That's it. I'm buying him a striped shirt.
