'Cause She's So High Above Me...

When that old, tattered, rickety white-wood roller coaster creeps and grunts up, up, up....then suddenly crests the hill and rumbles down the remainder of the track making my body slam side to side....yeah, I just loved that feeling as a kid. I'd ride it with Regi over and over and we'd see who could leave her hands in the air the longest without being forced to slam them down onto that oh-so-tight bar across our stomachs. Ahhhh...those were the days...
Years have gone by, and I was excited to take my kiddos to the new-and-improved Lagoon (well, newer than when I was there 100 years ago as a child) to test out all the new rides we'd heard so much about...and to visit my old rickety roller coaster love...
Suffice it to say, one good turn on the Music Maker with Fynnley (while Shayne had the other three on some whipping ride), and I was done. Nauseous, ears pounding, headache coming kind of done. But, hey, it was only the first ride! Shayne and I tried to brave it out for the rest of the day, but when we gave up and coaxed the kids onto the Sky Ride where we enjoyed a straight course with minimal jostling kind of experience, I'm not going to lie...I was deeming it my favorite ride of the day! Suddenly, memories of Grandma Preator taking me on that ride over and over as a child swept my mind and I felt a deep connection--it became all too clear why she chose THAT ride over and over...what a wise woman!
As sick as I was feeling, I was more than happy to just follow the kids around and hang out on a bench while they scrambled their brains over and over. They all had a great time and were so glad we went. I had a great time, too...I just had it with dreams of many ibuprofen when we arrived home...
