You'd think after buying a summer pass to the pool a few blocks from our house, and attending it twice a week all summer, the kids would be getting sick of the pool. Not so on this vacation. See, here's the difference: Dad gets wet! That's right. Instead of lounging poolside like I do and, just maybe, dangling a leg in the water, Shayne is a fish! He loves to be in the water more than anyone I know. And to the kids, he's just a big, floating buoy/tugboat to hang on to. They had so much fun playing at the pool next to the house we rented, they voted to go there over the beach a couple of times during our stay (much to their dad's chagrin!) Their favorite, newly-invented game? Have Dad dive down under the water, place boogie board on Dad's back, climb on oh-so-carefully, and gingerly stand up! "Look at me! I'm surfing!" they kept screaming. Problem with this game? Ever tried to get a gangly 9-year-old to balance on a little, floating styrofoam board? Shayne had to stay submerged for quite a while on that child! Good thing he can hold his breath for such a long time! And Fynnley's favorite activity? Taking her first risk at jumping off the side of the pool into Dad's arms. She loved it SO much--just look at her face! She was mad when any of the other kids tried to ferry her Dad away from said game. (And, P.S., she hasn't been satisfied with just Mom at the pool ever since!)
And that is why we want a pool in our backyard...and really, nudity, you are such a blog hog...sweet!
