Randy Travis' voice sang strong and clear as we whipped over and through the rolling hills and gorgeous West Virgina meadows at sunset. It was July 15, and the picture-perfect start to our three week, East coast vacation. (Okay, so the two weeks of errand-running, three days of packing, fourteen bins full of stuff to push through the security check, seven hours of dealing with airplanes and flying, and two hours of arguing with the car rental folk that preceded the "picture perfect" beginning to our vacation were forgotten momentarily to experience THE moment described above, but still...) It has been almost two years since we visited Shayne's family in WV and, coincidentally, twenty years since Shayne graduated from high school. These two events were the catalyst that soon snowballed into a grand plan for a three week (yep, that's a long time to be away from home and a long time to be living with extended family!) adventure in various places on the East coast. We spent several days at Grandma and Grandpa Keckley's house hanging out and doing whatever sounded fun at the moment, a day getting dizzy and laughing hard at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania (and, yes, the air does, indeed, smell like chocolate!), five days pounding the pavement of one of my favorite places on earth, New York City (where we spent a lot of time sloshing through the dirty streets in pouring rain and navigating too many subway stops to count!), seven days at Fenwick Island and Rehoboth Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD (again, hanging out with the whole fam minus Josh and Kayla (whom we really missed!)) and back to Keyser to celebrate the 20 years that have passed since Shayne amazingly graduated from high school. We had a great trip with lots of fun memories created, and even survived to tell about it! So, without further ado, here are the photos to prove "I was here!"
Gorgeous family photo!
