Oh, Come, Oh, Come Emmanuel...

Famous story at our house: when Natasha was a little girl, someone heard her singing and asked her where she got such a beautiful singing voice. Without hesitation, she quipped, “My Uncle John!” I remember the response stopped me in my tracks as I reflexively thought, ‘Hey! What about from dear old Mom??’

Either way, Tash does indeed possess a lovely voice that she is working very hard on developing. I hope I never forget two summers ago, listening to her belting out the songs along with the Wicked soundtrack as we drove through the hills of West Virginia on our way to visit the grandparents. I and her dad were pretty darn impressed that THAT kind of sound was coming from our little 11-year-old!

Natasha was a bit nervous to audition for the 8th grade women’s choir last summer before school started, but I knew she would make it! It was a scary experience for her—she had never auditioned for someone all by herself before. But I told her of the joy music and performing has brought into my life, and I hope that she will have some of those same opportunities in her own life in the coming years.

She was so excited to make it into the choir (as a 7th-grader, no less!) and has loved going to practice this year at school. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat as we got to see her all dressed in her long black gown (why does she look so old in that dress??) and perform with her choir for their Christmas performance. I was so proud! A couple of days later, she was stoked to be going with the choir to perform at University Mall and I took the chance to snap a few photos of her there. She is such a beautiful, lovely, sweet and sincere young lady. I can hardly believe how she is growing and changing with so many new experiences in her life. We just love and adore our Tash!

All the girls did a beautiful job singing "Oh, Come, Oh, Come Emmanuel". I love that song and it isn't an easy one to sing!
