Do You Hear What I Hear??

The second we are in the car, Connor insists on turning on some music! He’s not particularly picky, even though he does have his favorite soundtracks he likes to repeat and repeat. And he doesn’t particularly love it when people sing along to the songs. I finally asked him one day why he doesn’t sing along and he told me because he is embarrassed to sing. So, my goal as his mom is to get him to love singing as much as I do! At this point, he’ll sing along with me in church but other than that, you can forget it! Oh…except maybe for the school Christmas program. When surrounded by a sea of faces, he’s apparently willing to warble a note or two…
And Dane? He LOVES to sing—as long as it is to beat a level in Lego Rockband! His current favorite song is Check Yes, Juliet, and, boy, can he belt it out with some grave gusto. The school Christmas program? Agh--he can take it or leave it. And, this year, he apparently decided to leave it! I sat through every class scanning the faces for my floppy-haired blond in a white turtleneck. No such luck seeing him! I started to panic wondering if he had actually made it to school that day. I grabbed his teacher as she went off stage and demanded, "Where is Dane?" She was as questioning as I was and ran off to find the boy. Several minutes later, she came marching back into the cafeteria with a sheepish-looking Dane. I asked what happened and Mrs. Stone said she found him sitting all lone in his classroom wondering where everyone had gone. Hmm..sounds a little fishy to me. He sat there for 30 minutes by himself with no clue as to where the class was?? Whatever...I never did get a straight answer from Dane as to what happened. At any rate, I was back at the school for the afternoon program WITH my son this time!
