Rock-n-Roll Party Queen

38. Doesn’t that sound like such a mature, wise, got-it-together kind of age? Like, if one has passed through that many years of experiences on this planet, one should feel accomplished, focused and excited for the next 38 years of possibilities??

This 38 doesn’t. It sounds somewhat clichĂ©, I realize that. But I feel it nevertheless. Hard to believe I am on the brink of 40...F-O-R-T-Y! Yeah, I know I still have two years to go. But that is two years too close to that incredibly monumental number. That number that indicates you can have a crisis of sorts that everyone will use as Sunday dinner gossip. I can’t quite get my brain and my spirit to agree on the me that is now three sets of ten + eight more. All I can come up with to describe how I feel at this moment is: Yowzah!

But when life throws you those chronological moments, there is only one sure way to cope: with comfort food! We rallied the troops and headed to my fave Mexican restaurant, Los Hermanos, where I proceeded to eat as many chips smothered in salsa as I could shove down and polished that off with my standard order (cheese enchilada and a creamy raspberry/strawberry colada! Yumm-o!).

As an added birthday bonus, Nate, Lindsay, Hyrum and Stacey were all in town visiting and came along with me and the rest of we locals to celebrate. And that is one thing that never changes with the passing years—I am always grateful for my family and their love and support.

So, here’s to the next 38…may they be as good as my last…
