New Year's Eve is a semi-lame holiday. I mean, I'm all for saying good-bye to the year gone by and looking forward to a fresh start. And I love to watch the crystal ball drop in Times Square and, every year, declare that someday I will actually be there to witness it in person. But what to do to fill the time between 6:00 p.m. of one year and 12:00 a.m. of the next? It's a dilemma for sure! This year, part of me really wanted to just cuddle up with a good book (which I have plenty of!) and sleep myself into the new year. However, feeling the need to provide some sort of exciting culmination to 2009 for my children, I decided to host a New Year's Eve party for any of my family members willing to show up. We gorged on "Ronni Rolls" (a Keckley favorite), Aunt Pat's meatballs (I finally got the recipe!), trays full of fruit and veggies, peppermint brownies, peanut butter cookies, caramel popcorn balls, guacamole and salsa with chips, five (count them, five) cheese balls provided by Markie and plenty of Martinellis to go around. We played a couple rounds of Wits-N-Wagers while the kids entertained themselves in the basement. Then, dare I say it, I think the Sandman made an early visit and the yawning set it. We barely made it as a collective group to watch the ball drop, give the new year kiss, and bid adieu to 2009. Oh, well...we gave it the good college try (except that, in college, I managed to actually stay awake past midnight!) At any rate, here's to a jubilant and joyous 2010!
Love all the updates...you have been busy! So fun to see glimpses of your fun holiday season.
